Before I learned how to make jam, I only purchased the all-fruit jam from our local health food store. It did get expensive quickly. I had tried making jam with stevia for a friend who is diabetic with poor results so I was discouraged from making jam for a short while. However, it's really not that hard. If you don't have a problem sweetening the jam with fruit juice, fruit juice concentrate or honey then you shouldn't have a problem. So far the only truly no sugar needed pectin I've found is Pomona's Original Pectin which is activated with calcium (provided in the box) rather than sugar. The other ones had sugar or an artificial sweetener listed in the ingredients so I steered clear of those.
Hemp Seeds are a nutritional powerhouse with a delicious, rich, buttery taste. These little guys are a must try for anyone interested in promoting long term health and longevity. Put some time into researching hemp seeds and their health benefits. Take a look at your local health food store to see if they stock them. I think most would but I'm sure they would be happy to order them in if they didn't stock them. I personally prefer the Peanut Hemp Seed Butter and eat it on a regular basis but if you want to make something you can spread on with jam and give to your children to take to school, the Hemp Seed (Nut) Butter is the better choice. To be clear, hemp seed is not a nut and can be taken to school even if your child's school has rules against bringing peanut or tree nut products to school. | |||||||
