Commercial granola bars seem to have a reputation for being healthy. A quick look at the ingredients will tell you otherwise but I don't think many people know what to look for and what it means comparatively. Basically, they're very sweet, with lots of sugar, usually have some whole grains but it's uncommon to see all whole grain and are more like a glorified cookie than a healthy snack. And the prices are absolutely horrifying!
The Granola Bars Recipe here is a must try for anyone who buys granola bars at the store. Not only will you reap the health benefits but you will save more money that you realize by making these at home. Even if you can cut back on the commercial ones by replacing them with these homemade granola bars half the time, you will be receiving that much more nutrients and spending that much less money. It's just as easy to make big batches and then cut them up and freeze them as making single recipes so I usually do that. | |||||||
